Hardware to improve engine performance
Manifolds
More than 30 years of experience, as well as state of the art engineering, is included in ECT’s manifolds for gas turbines. Manifolds are designed and manufactured for each specific engine type and model. Proprietary mounting schemes ensure that the proper flow, spray pattern, and droplet size are delivered precisely where the greatest effect can be achieved.
Injection Systems
Fluid delivery can be accomplished using systems as simple as a pneumatic driven drum pump. ECT also builds wash skids, ranging from simple off/on systems to programmable, variable speed systems that can be used to perform both offline and online cleaning.
Inlet Cooling/Mass Flow Power Augmentation
ECT installed its first mass-flow power augmentation system on a Westinghouse 251 in 1994. We have since patented engineered fluid injection apparatus designed to optimize the mass flow characteristics of fogging and power augmentation.
The ECT design requires smaller pumps and fewer nozzles than other brands. We offer two ways to get more power out of a gas turbine:
1. Inlet cooling. ECT offers a classic fogging system to lower inlet temperature. The ECT nozzle incorporates an internal swirl design that eliminates the design issues associated with external impingement pin type tips. Performance gains of 15 to 20% can be achieved based on the ambient conditions.
2. Mass flow augmentation. ECT offers a plenum-mounted ring assembly that injects water just in front of the first stage. This provides interstage cooling, and is not subject to ambient temperature and humidity for effectiveness. Performance gains of 6% using an increase of 1% of mass flow through water injection are typically seen.
All ECT skids can be designed to incorporate cleaning as well. These skids combining multiple functionalities lower the initial installed cost and conserve your scarce plant space by reducing the footprint required for installation.
